The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2023 General Counsel Roundtable.

Save the Date: General Counsel Roundtable 2023

As NATO increases partnerships with the private sector, adopting new technology will require holistic understanding of the underpinning legal challenges for all stakeholders. The Roundtable Panels will discuss best practices and live issues that lawyers tackle in the technology sphere, from both business and regulatory perspectives. In this exchange, key NATO stakeholders and Legal Advisers will also discuss recent developments and the Alliance's way forward in this sphere.

Potential areas of focus include:

  • Data challenges: collecting, sharing, and storing data; delivery of cloud services to governments (access, geography, classifications);
  • Cybersecurity challenges: ransomware attacks, encryption, liabilities, use of AI, quantum and attribution issues, effective contracts;
  • AI challenges: appropriate standards, development and operation of autonomous systems;
  • Export control and intellectual property issues related to software and defence solutions in a multinational environment;
  • Space-related technology, including cloud in space, sharing of satellite data.

NATO invites General Counsels from the private and public sectors, and leading technology law practitioners to submit topics of interest related to this theme. We will be launching a call for speakers shortly so gather your ideas and stay tuned for more information. Attendance is by invitation.
