This is a key part of NATO's digital endeavour – and we will need your participation to maintain NATO's edge in space," writes Kevin J Scheid, NATO Communications and Information (NCI) Agency General Manager, in his foreword for this edition.

At the December 2019 Leaders' Meeting in London, Allies declared space a fifth operational domain, alongside air, land, sea and cyberspace. Don't miss the article on this topic by Camille Grand, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment, and Patrick Turner, Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning.

Another must-read: an interview with the President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX, Gwynne Shotwell, on collaborating with industry in space.

In another article, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation General André Lanata discusses how the evolving security environment is impacting Alliance preparations to address future security challenges.

5G technologies are also highlighted in this edition of NITECH. Read the articles on this topic by Latvia's Defence Minister, Dr Artis Pabriks, and by Norway's Minister of Regional Development and Digitalization, Linda Hofstad Helleland.

And in an interview, Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Baiba Braze explains how her department helped to identify and counter a spate of disinformation campaigns that were launched during the coronavirus pandemic.

This edition is also packed with interviews from NCI Agency experts on their latest projects and research.
