NCI Agency completes tests for new version of Air Command and Control capability

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) has successfully completed the User Acceptance Tests (UAT) for the new release of the Air Command and Control (AirC2) Information Services (AirC2IS) Increment 1 (Inc1).


AirC2IS is a suite of applications used by the AirC2 and Theatre Ballistic Missile Defence (TBMD) user communities, within the NATO Command Structure. Amongst many other functionalities, AirC2IS uses mathematical models to assist in the planning of the defence assets required to protect a certain area against potential threats.

Representatives from across NATO participated in the week-long UAT event, which was executed on-site at NATO Allied Air Command Headquarters in Ramstein, Germany.

"The close coordination with our customers and users was key for the success of the UAT. This collaborative environment assisted with the further improvement of AirC2IS Inc1," said Ioannis Dimou, Product Manager, NCI Agency.

"After all of the effort this year to develop the update and prepare the UAT, it was great to feel the engagement of every single participant during the week" said Fikret Serbest, Service Delivery Manager, NCI Agency.

Before the end of 2021, eligible NCS sites will receive the new version of AirC2IS.

"We are pleased to offer this release to our user community. They will benefit from the upgrades in the Mission Information Portal, which facilitates information sharing during missions and exercises. The way defence equipment footprints are managed has also been improved, as well as the interoperability with other NATO operational applications," said Pablo Moreno, Principal Project Manager, NCI Agency.
