"This system is used during peacetime, training, exercises and in times of crisis. It is absolutely essential for NATO, and we are committed to ensuring our means for communications are modern, secure, and highly resilient in times of crisis," said Thomas Castle, Senior Project Manager at the NCI Agency.
The project includes a software application, message processing, management features and gateway services. Together, those tools and services will enable staff officers to exchange formal messages within NATO and with NATO Nations as part of NATO's formal Consultation, Command and Control (C3) activities.
A pilot of the new system will be implemented in the maritime community based in Northwood, United Kingdom, in December 2021, with other NATO locations to follow in subsequent phases of the project.
A competition was conducted for the project. Thales Norway was selected for the contract on the basis of best value.
