Instituto de Telecomunicações is conducting a technical study on the military potential of 5G technologies and Ingeniería de Sistemas para la Defensa de España (Isdefe) is developing the training curriculum in support of NATO Deployable Communications and Information Systems (DCIS).
"The signing of these two contracts highlights that this framework is effective. I am excited to see that the activation of the NFPF in February 2022 is bringing tangible results and benefits to NATO," said Alain Courtois, Principal Contracting Officer at the NCI Agency.
The Agency has also announced two more business opportunities through the NFPF for:
- The development and prototyping of a TRANSEC (transmission security) layer for Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 5066 "Profile for HF Radio Data Communications";
- The conduction of technical study on future key technologies for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in NATO.
"The cooperation between NFPs and the Agency allows for dynamic innovations and different expertise to come together," said Luis Bastos, Principal Scientist at the NCI Agency. "To the Agency, it provides access to external scientific support to NATO technical projects, and to NFPs, it provides exposure to NATO user requirements and the ability to support the Alliance".
The NFPF cooperation model will allow the Agency to provide NATO with the projects needed to support its digital transformation. Organizations seeking to learn more about the framework are invited to attend NATO Edge, the NCI Agency's new flagship conference. NATO Edge will take place from 25-27 October at the Lotto Mons Expo in Mons, Belgium. Agency Acquisition experts will hold a breakout session dedicated to the NFP Framework.
